  Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo

The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is the premier event in rodeo, and the contestants who make it to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo often get the majority of rodeo headlines. Yet, there are many top cowboys and cowgirls who never make it to Las Vegas. The reasons are as varied as the contestants, but for most, the responsibilities of home, jobs or businesses keep them tied to a specific geographic location. Champions from those rodeos, as well as the year-end winners from each circuit, are then invited to Pocatello, Idaho, to vie for Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo championships. In other words, not everyone can, or wants to, travel thousands of miles each year for a chance at a gold buckle at the Wrangler NFR, but they still want to rodeo. These contestants make up the majority of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association membership. Enter the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo. In 1975, the PRCA created a system that breaks up the United States into 12 circuits. The circuits include as few as one state, such as the California, Texas and Montana Circuits, to as many as 13 states, such as the First Frontier Circuit in the northeastern part of the country. In 1987, the DNCFR was incorporated, and Dodge became the title sponsor of all 12 circuit finals rodeos and the National Circuit Finals Rodeo. As the regular season ends, top competitors from each event qualify to compete in their Dodge Circuit Finals rodeos.

  Wrangler Million Dollar Tour

The Wrangler Million Dollar Tour, presented by Justin Boots, showcases the PRCA’s top cowboys in a seven-month, nationwide series of rodeos that includes two of the top three prize money rodeos sanctioned by the PRCA, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo and Cheyenne (Wyo.) Frontier Days. There are two levels of competition in the revised format being used this year, with eight of the 17 participating rodeos designated as Gold rodeos – those with a committee purse of at least $20,000 in each event – and the remainder designated as Silver rodeos, with a committee purse of at least $10,000 in each event. For the third year in a row, the Tour will culminate with an elimination playoff system. This year, the playoffs will play out at two elite PRCA events, in Puyallup, Wash., and Omaha, Neb. Total prize money for the regular season and playoffs is expected to exceed $6 million. The Wrangler Million Dollar Tour standings will count up to 15 of each contestant’s rodeos in the race to reach the Justin Boots Playoffs. All eight of the Gold tier events will be counted for everyone, while seven of the Silver tier rodeos will count. A cowboy who competes in seven Silver rodeos will count them all; a contestant who competes in eight Silver rodeos will have his lowest rodeo dropped. If he competes in all nine, the lowest two are dropped. After a year in which Tour standings were kept using a points system, the PRCA’s Wrangler Million Dollar Tour, presented by Justin Boots, will return to standings based on total earnings.
